disease: excessive TH - Autoimmune disease where Ab's mimic TSH, cause elevation in TH
levels. Characterized by increased BMR, sweating, nervousness, weight loss, loss of
hair protruberance of the eyes.
- Disorders of the Adrenal Cortex

syndrome (can be caused by pituitary adenoma)
- Long-term increase in cortisol causes high plasma glucose and loss of protein from
muscles and bones. Symptoms include a swollen "moon" face, redistribution
of fat to the post neck ("buffalo hump"), and depression of the immune system.
- Addison's disease - decreased
cortosol and aldosterone secretion
- Characterized by severe dehydration and low blood pressure.
