Mac N' Mac Substitute Diet
1/4 - 1/3 can of mackerel
1/2 cup of cottage cheese
2 cups of cooked macaroni (This mac 'n mac meal is substituted for the regular (meat/veggie/oatmeal) diet for 2 or 3 meals per week. The supplement-regime is never varied, however.)
DO NOT switch dogs over from commercial to this food in one-fell-swoop.
Wean them slowly over a period of 2 - 3 full weeks. You will see far lower water consumption & far smaller poops with this diet!* * * * * NOTE: I have recently begun to substitute some commercial kibble (I use Sensible Choice Chicken/Rice for Adults).
In the a.m., Trudi gets 1 C. kibble with 1.5 C. stew (+ her vitamins), while Fanci gets only .5 C. kibble with 1 C. stew (+ her vitamins)...no bread with this meal. (Fanci tends to pork out if I don't watch her closely!) The night regime stays with the original instructions above.
